• Please read this Membership Agreement thoroughly and then keep this agreement in a safe place for future reference. Please complete and sign the Membership Form, the Member Data Form and the Volunteer Form and return them to Houston Repertoire Ballet.

  • It is very important that both dancers and parents understand and abide by HRB policies. The policies reflect the work ethics of the HRB Artistic Staff and Board of Directors. Houston Repertoire Ballet was formed to create an environment that will promote the training process and the development of the dancer.

    Minimum Attendance:

Dancers are required to attend the minimum hours of classes, all rehearsals & costume fittings, and to participate in other scheduled activities that involve the Company. It is at the discretion of the Artistic Director to replace any dancer that is not able to fulfill his or her obligation during the course of the season. Any absences must be submitted in writing to the BCH front desk prior to rehearsal.

      • All Junior Company members are required to take two (2) approved ballet technique classes (1.5 hr/class) and one pointe class per week in addition to company class and rehearsal.
      • All Senior Company members are required to take three (3) approved ballet technique classes (1.5 hr/class), one pointe class, plus Variations class (if available for your level) per week in addition to company class and rehearsal.
      • Members must follow the class schedule provided by the Artistic Director and must be consistent in attendance. The Artistic Director must approve any changes to the approved schedule.
      • In order to accept membership into HRB you must be registered at The Ballet Center of Houston.
    • All Company members are required to attend the two-week Summer Intensive held at Ballet Center of Houston.

    Company Dues:

The dues for membership in Houston Repertoire Ballet help to defray the costs of the nine-month season of classes, rehearsals, costume maintenance, sets/props, and performances, from September through May. We are able to keep our dues to a minimum thanks to all of our gracious donors.

There are two payment options for Membership Dues:

      1. Dues may be paid in a single payment of $500.00 at the beginning of the season. $500.00 is due by August 19, 2019 and is payable by cash, check, or credit/debit card. A $50 discount will be applied for cash & check.
      2. If not paid in full by August 19th. dues may be paid in installments totaling $500.00. The first installment of $200 is due by August 31, 2019, followed by three equal payments of $100.00 which will be due on Sept.15th, 2019; Oct. 15th, 2019 and Final payment due no later than Nov. 15th 2019. All installments must be paid by cash or check.

All membership dues must be paid in full by November 15, 2019. A payment option must be indicated on the Membership Form. At the discretion of the Artistic Director and the Board, dancers who have not paid their company dues in full by Nov.15th, 2019 will not be considered in spring casting decisions.

    Costumes:

The use of company costumes for performances is a tremendous responsibility for the dancers both financially and artistically. Costumes are expensive and must last for many years. Company members are required to attend scheduled costume fittings and are held responsible for the care of the costumes issued to them prior to each performance and/or during performances.

  • General Class / Rehearsal Schedule

     Company Dancers Schedule and Attendance:

All Company members must attend ALL BCH scheduled Classes. Senior company is required to attend HRB Rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from 7:30-9:00 PM. Junior Company will be notified in advance if attendance to these rehearsals is needed.

All Company members are also required to attend HRB class on Saturdays from 11:00am - 12:30PM and HRB rehearsals from 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Schedules are subject to change. Specific rehearsal schedules and performance times will be announced.

    Rehearsals:

    • Company dancers are on call for possible additional rehearsals called on Fridays or Sundays prior to performances.
    • Company members are not allowed to study or perform with other studios or groups outside of school activities without the prior permission of the Artistic Director.
    • Company members needing to miss a rehearsal must have a parent write a letter stating reason and submit it to the front desk prior to absence. Auditions for summer intensives on Saturdays are not allowed. Artistic Director will notify the company dancers of which day(s) will be excused for pre-approved auditions.
    • Company dancers and parents are responsible for all current information pertaining to HRB class and rehearsal schedules, performances, costume fittings, and other important events. Schedules and important member information will be posted at the studio and is often emailed out via google groups email.
    • Please check the board regularly as it is the dancers’ responsibility to know the rehearsal schedule.

    Behavior:

    • Students will not be allowed to leave the studio premises without written permission of the parents. At no time will students be permitted to leave the Ballet Center premises.
    • Company members are considered ambassadors of HRB and BCH as well as the arts. They are expected to maintain good grades, good health, correct weight, and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on the company at all times.
    • During all rehearsals and performances cell phone use is prohibited. All dancers are to remain respectful and focused on the rehearsals even while their cast is not actively dancing.

    Parent/Family Volunteering:

    • Since HRB cannot exist without its volunteer support base, the parent(s) or family of company members are expected to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours through the season – with 20 Fall hours logged by the completion of Nutcracker and 10 Spring hours logged or committed to no later than May 1st.
    • Two Volunteer Deposit Checks must be submitted with your dues payment - each family submits: $200 dated Jan 1, 2020; and $100 dated May 1, 2020. * Volunteer Requirements are per family not per dancer*
    • Volunteer Hours must be logged with in the month they are completed @ http://bit.ly/HRBHOURS
    • Once the minimum volunteer hours have been met, you may request your check back or it will be shredded at the end of the year. If requirement is not met, the check will be deposited no earlier than Jan 1 or May 1.
    • HRB offers many ways in which to serve, and our volunteers also have a lot of fun together! At the parent meeting you will have an opportunity to talk to an HRB board member or volunteer coordinator and to sign up for volunteer areas in which you are interested.

    Communication:

    • Rehearsal schedules, additional fittings, reminders, cancellations, questions, volunteer opportunities, and last-minute changes of any kind are communicated through either BCH's class mailing lists or HRB's Google Groups. Every family – at least one parent, but preferably a parent plus dancer – will be signed up to the group to stay current with important information and changes. All emails that you list on your registration form will be added to the Google Group.
