The Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB) company is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dance organization.  The youth ballet was conceptualized in 1994 and received non-profit status in 1995.  It arose from the need and desire to provide North Harris County communities with the highest quality of dance education and performance.  HRB has grown to become the premier pre-professional company in the area requiring discipline and commitment from the dancers and providing two major productions for the community each season.  HRB remains closely associated with its founding dance studios (see separate page) and promotes the Children’s Guild for younger dancers.

The Houston Repertoire Ballet Company is a collaborative effort of its artistic directors, Gilbert Rome and Victoria Vittum.  Both are nationally recognized teachers and choreographers.  Since its inception, HRB students have been accepted to an impressive list of nationally recognized ballet programs throughout the country.  In addition, HRB dancers have gone on to dance professionally with the New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Walt Disney World, Texas Ballet Theater, American Ballet Theater New York  and Dayton Ballet.

MISSION OF HRB

Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB) is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the art of classical ballet, providing a program of the highest quality to local dancers through professional instruction, education and performance experiences.  To ensure quality, acceptance into the company is limited and by invitation only.

The company gives young, talented, dedicated dancers the serious training needed for them to enter the professional world of dance, while providing cultural education and community service to surrounding cities.  Dancer development is also encouraged through competition for HRB’s Daisy Rome dance scholarship sponsored annually to promote artistic growth.

Houston Repertoire Ballet’s winter and spring performances are, for many people in the local community, a wonderful opportunity to see live dance performances.  This is especially true for the groups included in the educational and outreach programs, but also applies to the many ballet lovers who can’t or don’t want to travel to downtown Houston.  Audiences primarily come from both Harris and Montgomery Counties, including Tomball, Spring, the FM1960 area, and areas north to Magnolia and Conroe.

ARTS & EDUCATION (A&E)

As part of HRB’s mission, the company supports special performances to bring dance education to community groups.  Typically a shorter matinee performance, the A&E welcomes groups such as schools, Girls Scouts, seniors, or others to attend at a discounted rate and receive special descriptions of ballet productions and background.  Through A&E efforts, HRB helps to build appreciation for the arts and expose new audiences to the world of dance.
